Temporary residence permit for 1 year A category - a service that allows for the submission of a residence permit application in the general procedure.
Tax residenceStarting from April 15, 2023, the order of the Minister of Finance of Georgia No. 60 on changing the rules for obtaining tax residency in Georgia based on the status of a high net worth individual (HNWI) comes into force.
Under the old rules, to obtain tax residency based on this criterion, one of the following conditions had to be met:
- The person had to have assets equivalent to GEL 3,000,000 (regardless of the location of such assets).
- The person's annual income for the last 3 years had to be at least GEL 200,000.
Additionally, if the person did not have a residence permit in Georgia, they also had to confirm income of GEL 25,000 in Georgia for the year in which tax residency was requested.
With the changes to the current rules, a new requirement is added, which states that the person must have property in Georgia with a value equivalent to USD 500,000 (at the date of application). This property is counted towards the asset mass criterion of GEL 3,000,000.
The property can be any type, including real estate, company shares, cash, and others.
